"Timeless" Season 1 is nearing its finale episode and while the time traveling series is a breath of fresh air on TV, NBC still has not renewed the show for Season 2. Are the ratings enough to pull off a renewal order from the network or will it only live for one season?

"Timeless" Season 1 renewal, cancellation status is up in the air, as NBC has not yet released an official announcement on the show's future even though it is nearing its season finale. According to TVLine, most networks decide on the fate of their shows during mid-May, so the network's decision on the series may come out that time or earlier.
The publication also cited some cases for "Timeless" Season 2 to happen and some reasons why the show should be cut off from the network. According to the outlet, the show is definitely composed of some powerhouse cast members including Sean Maguire and Michael Drayer.
Aside from this, "Timeless" Season 1 finale may not provide a complete resolution to some of the questions raised during the entire season. Doing a second season would also allow more time for the viewers to get to know the characters and give them deeper stories.
On the other hand, "Timeless" Season 1 ratings prove to be unpromising for the network. As TV Series Finale reports, the show premiered with over 7 million viewers.
However, as episodes went by, "Timeless" Season 1 experienced major drops in its ratings, with the latest episode only receiving 2.9 million viewers or a 0.6 rating in the 18-49 demographics. As most fans know, a show's renewal is greatly determined by its performance (aka ratings) and support from fans.
