"NCIS" Season 14 cast news reveals that many fans continue to hope that Michael Weatherly will reprise his role in the CBS series as Tony DiNozzo. As seen in the latest episode of the show, DiNozzo's father (played by Robert Wagner) returned and became involved with the Sherlocks, recaps TVGuide.com.

During the said episode, DiNozzo Sr. provides several updates about Tony's life with his and Ziva's (Cote de Pablo) daughter, Tali in "NCIS" Season 14. DiNozzo Sr. shared that he spent his Christmas with his son and granddaughter in Paris, which gives viewers a hint about Tony's life after leaving the team.

This made a lot of fans wonder whether there is a chance for Tony to return in "NCIS" Season 14 even as a guest star in an episode. As most fans can recall, Weatherly left the show in Season 13 in order to pursue his new show, "Bull," but he was open to the idea of returning to the show every now and then.

Cinema Blend also notes the possibility that Weatherly's departure accounts for the drop in the "NCIS" Season 14 ratings. According to the publication, the show is not doing so well in the 18-49 demographic, but it continues to be one of the network's most-watched shows.

While some fans may begin worrying about the show's future, the publication notes that "NCIS" Season 14's was able to reach its season high with 16.21 million viewers. It would also be wise to note that the show is not the only one experiencing drops in its ratings.
