While it's too early for Bungie's weekly "This Week at Bungie" post, fans may have already gotten a pretty massive update in the form of a supposed leak. While 'Destiny 2' has been in the pipeline for quite some time now, very little has been revealed about the sequel. The only confirmed details have been the platforms and release year, 2017.
Cabal Invasion? According to PC GamesN, a huge part of the 'Destiny 2' plotline may have been leaked via the new Mega Bloks sets. The Destiny-themed kits are reportedly an "Aspect of Glass jump ship," a "Goliath Tank" and a "Cabal Bruiser Battle Building."
The description of the Cabal Bruiser Battle Building set supposedly details a pretty specific battle going on in The Tower Hangar. The description, according to Express UK, reads pretty generic at first but then gets a little more particular. "Wielding his Raze-Lighter, hero of the Crucible Lord Shaxx prepares to pit his blade against the furious cleavers of a Cabal Red Guard."
Shaxx is an NPC who gives Crucible quests, which are the main PvP mode. The Tower is home to Destiny's player-characters known as the Guardians and the fight happening at the Tower Hangar suggests an assault of some kind. A Cabal Red Guard is also a new enemy type and the fact that it's there suggests a possible Cabal invasion big enough to warrant Shaxx's interference.
Goliath Tank-Redesigned? PC GamesN also mentioned that the Mega Bloks version of The Goliath Tank bears some interest as its features may hint at a design change for the in-game version. The Mega Bloks Goliath Tank opens to reveal an interior troop bay, which is a capability the current Goliath does not have.
"DestinyCon" coming soon? These are currently guesses based off Mega Bloks sets but fans are pretty hyped up about them. Game Rant also reports that a Bungie or Activision-sponsored Destiny Convention may be in the cards for us, which means we could be getting more details regarding Destiny 2 soon.
According to the report, Bungie has recently registered a trademark for the term "DestinyCon" and it's been filed under classification 41-"denoting fan conventions [...] in connection with the game Destiny." It's got fans pretty excited, considering Bungie is legally obligated to use the term within the next two and a half years to keep the trademark. With no official confirmation from Bungie, this, like the "Destiny 2" plotline leak, remains purely a speculation right now.
