Electronic Arts has confirmed that there will be a new "Need for Speed" game that is currently in development and it will be launched by next year according to IGN. The last game that was released was way back in 2015 and the long wait should be well worth it for fans of the franchise.

EA CEO Andrew Wilson revealed that the new game will be pushing the boundaries of action driving. He added that it will be the most exciting and best-looking "Need for Speed" game ever produced by EA. The announcement was made during the company's quarterly earnings call. Wilson shared that the game will be launched in EA's fiscal year which will be on April 1, 2017 to March 31, 2018.

The last two installments of the game were not as successful as its predecessors, a report by Digital Trends claimed. "Need for Speed: Rivals" did not take advantage of PS4 and Xbox One's powerful systems. The game was then rebooted in 2015, but was otherwise criticized by its tasteless full-motion videos and its underwhelming story. Hopefully, the next title should return to its original style that made the series well-loved by the fans.

Need for Speed is a racing video game franchise published by EA and developed by multiple studios including Criterion Games, EA Black Box and Ghost Games. The previous installments, "Need for Speed: Rivals" and "Need for Speed 2015" were developed by Ghost Games.
