"Pokemon Go" developer Niantic has been putting a lot of efforts to get rid of third party apps and sites that promote in-game cheating, reportedly. Luckily for fans, there is actually some cheats left that would not require a user to root an Android smartphone or get a jailbreak for an iOS device. However, players are advised that such cheats and tips are not recommended as they can be grounds for a permanent ban.
There are actually two cheating methods that could still help players make the "Pokemon Go" gameplay easy without rooting or jailbreaking, Mic reported. First is the GPS spoofing that requires third-party software to feed the server false GPS information. The other one is the OpenStreetMap, an open-source mapping tool that is useful to determine and locate spawning activities.
GPS spoofing can be utilized by downloading apps such as Fake GPS Joystick for Android users, which reportedly overwrites a player's location. With the use of the joystick, Android gamers could navigate inside Pokemon Go's game screen at the comfort of his or her own home. This is considered cheating though as players who use it can play the game without leaving the house.
It is also important to note that GPS manipulation or spoofing can result to a soft ban on a user's account, Business Korea reported. The soft ban causes a temporary restriction in collecting Pokeballs and even Pokemon. Repeated soft bans, additionally, could lead to a possible termination of a "Pokemon Go" account.
The OpenStreetMap, on the other hand, could not be fully considered a "Pokemon Go" cheat. Any player can modify the map to include updates and details about Pokemon spawns. For this reason, it could be used as a hack to locate more Pokemon and some users tend to abuse it too.
As mentioned above, Niantic is serious when it asked players to follow the game's fair policy so it keeps an eye on cheaters that violates the "Pokemon Go" rules. So, players should take caution if they decide to follow the cheats given here for iOS and Android users. Check out how Fake GPS Joystick works in the clip below.
