It hasn't been a long time since Motorola was in the news, initially for the Moto M and then for the Moto G5 Plus image leaks. Latest reports suggest that Motorola is planning a complete makeover for the new G5 series -- with a circular camera panel at the back and a fingerprint scanner integrated within the home button.
Key Specs Of The Unannounced Moto G5 Play
The leak divulges that the Moto G5 Play will be cheaper than the Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus at launch. The key specs include a 5-inch Full HD display (1920x1080p resolution), a Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 octa-core chipset, 2GB/3GB RAM, 16GB and 32GB storage and an Android 7.0 Nougat OS. It is also said to sport a 2800mAh battery, dual SIM, 4G LTE, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi add-ons, as reported by The International Business Times.
Moreover, the high-end Moto G5 Plus is said to have a 5.5-inch full HD display, fingerprint sensor, Android 7.1.1 Nougat OS, Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 octa-core CPU and a 4GB RAM. It will also reportedly have a built-in storage of 32GB/64GB, a 12MP primary camera with a larger lens size on the rear, 8MP front snapper and a 3080mAh battery.
Price & Availability
According to MotoG3, there is no direct reference to Moto G5 Play in the FCC listing, but the certified model numbers sighted are all said to be the variants of Moto G5 Play. This is like almost confirming the device's official launch at the Mobile World Congress 2017, which is happening on 26 February in Barcelona, Spain. If for any reason it is delayed, the release date will reportedly be pushed to the first week of March.
Moto G5 Plus will likely be priced around $299, while the Moto G5 will be priced at around $249. The Motorola budget phone is expected to contend with the likes of Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 and Lenovo P2. We just have to wait and find out how well. So far, the American multinational telecommunications company has not made any official comments on the Moto G5 series leaks.
