As of now, the only source of information fans can get about "Death Stranding" is the trailers and Hideo Kojima's interviews. With these sources, some are able to come up with viable theories surrounding the game. The latest is a theory as to where and when "Death Stranding" takes place.
With the help of a fan on Reddit, everyone can likely know where and when the trailer of "Death Stranding" took place. This was based on the second teaser, where Mads Mikkelsen and Guillermo del Toro were featured.
According to Gamepur, Reddit user Hikometi suggested that the "Death Stranding" trailer is likely in Saint Malo, France. What mainly aided the fan was the visuals seen in the game. He posted photos of the place on his blog, which indeed resembled the one from the trailer.
Fans have also scavenged from the trailer's possible storylines. One of the most popular is that it was in the middle of a war; specifically, World War II. On the "Death Stranding" second trailer, a voice can be heard on the radio speaking, which appears to be German. That being said, it also connects to Saint Malo's history. Hikometi researched about the place and, apparently, it was the stronghold of Germans during the second World War.
Another uncanny similarity was that the place looked like it was close to the sea. The first trailer showed Norman Reedus washed up on the shore. If it is indeed closely related to the happenings in the second trailer, then it would make sense. However, if the two "Death Stranding" trailers happened on separate time and place, the second teaser could still show signs of a coastal town.
Meanwhile, one of the stars of "Death Stranding," Mads Mikkelsen, seems to be growing closer with legendary game developer and creator Hideo Kojima. The owner of Kojima Productions posted a photo with Mikkelsen on his Twitter.
The developer has revealed that he was actually a fan of the actor. Mikkelsen is believed to play the main antagonist in "Death Stranding."
