An associate producer on Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 has apparently leaked information on just about everything from weapons to campaign and multipayer modes in the upcoming shooter to video game website Dualshockers.
The story revolves around Frank Woods, of the original Black Ops, who talks about missions through flashbacks and gives tips on how to defeat antagonist Raul Menendez. The flashbacks show how Menendez rose to power. "Some" actions during these flashbacks can influence the game's ending.
The game's campaigns feature worldwide locations from Afghanistan to Los Angeles. These include a "U.S. Barack Obama" mission, though the report did not state whether the President features.
Multiplayer is where the meat of the game lies, though, and Dualshockers received plenty of information on what Black Ops 2 brings to multiplayer mode, including a live streaming feature for broadcasting matches.
In a big change compared to past titles, Black Ops 2 gives players the ability to create a class based on equipment unlocked, rather than requiring players to choose class-based types of equipment and perks. It is now possible to choose 6 perks and carry only a knife, or choose no perks and add features to secondary and primary weapons. Perks include Fast Hands, for switching to weapons and reloading faster, and Tactical Mask, protecting players against flash-bangs, concussion grenades, EMP grenades, and "spikes". Last Stand, allowing players to shoot after being killed, is out.
Killstreaks include a mixture of traditional and original. Old killstreaks including the UAV and Attack Dogs return, and this game introduces a new Microwave Turret which sends out microwave energy to kill enemies who stay in the field for too long. The Lodestar - a controllable mini plane for crashing into enemies (shown in the multiplayer trailer) - also debuts in Black Ops 2. For the full list of killstreaks, head to Dualshocker's report.
Black Ops 2 is bringing back Zombies and Treyarch's wave-based survival mode. A new feature is apparently the ability to turn into a zombie if infected. Presumably that is the end state for players, though the report did not clarify whether players have a certain number of lives, or if players can respawn as humans after being killed as a zombie.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 releases November 13 on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC.
