The Shield Experience 5.0.2 update is now available to the 2015 Nvidia Shield TV. Similar to the previously leaked release notes, the update carries an Android 7.0 Nougat Upgrade. This is in addition to Amazon Video, Nvidia Games App and several other improvements.

In the changelog update released by Nvidia, it was confirmed that 2015 Nvidia Shield TV will be upgraded to the latest Android 7.0 Nougat OS. This brings enhancements such as Picture-in-Picture support and quicker navigation through the menus. Also, the new OS allows players to just double-press the home key to instantly access recent apps.

Owners of 2015 Nvidia Shield TV will also be given passes to Amazon Video through the Shield 5.0.2 Update. Amazon Video is a feature that lets users stream TV shows in up to 4K display. Nvidia Games App has been added to and it targets those who are fond of playing games on their favorite Shield TV.

Through Nvidia Games App, users can actually access GeForce NOW games and many other exclusive Android and Nvidia GameStream titles. The app is said to replace the Shield Hub. However, Shield TV owners are advised that the Nvidia Games update will be a staged release and it is expected to be available through the Google Play Store in the coming weeks.

There are also other improvements carried by the Shield Experience 5.0.2 update such as the addition of Pause and Play functions when double tapping the volume slider on the remote. But as pointed out by 9to5Google, all these features carried by the Shield Experience 5.0.2 update are already implemented on the 2017 Nvidia Shield TV. So, those who want to purchase the TV might want to consider the 2017 version too.

The Shield Experience 5.0.2 update for the 2015 Nvidia Shield TV is reportedly about 1B in size. Check out the upgrade now and don't forget to leave a comment below to let us know if you like the enhancements carried by the update.
