Users of 2015 and 2017 NVIDIA Shield TV are reporting that PlayStation and Xbox controllers can now be paired with their TVs via bluetooth. It is still unclear if the new feature is limited to the two NIVIDA Shield TV or if the new feature is simply triggered by the Android Nougat update that both devices have.

According to reports, the new features allow users to connect the Xbox One S, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 controllers with their NVIDIA Shield TV via bluetooth. Though the gaming TVs already come with controllers, being able to pair the controllers from different video game console is still a great additional feature.

Video game players were already able to connect the controllers from the different game consoles in the past. However, pairing the controllers often involve a tedious process.

In the past, video game players are able to pair their TV with their Android devices by having root access and the Sixaxis application. Also, according to reports, an OTG cable may be used to connect the PlayStation 4 controller or the Xbox One S controller with an Android device.

The newly discovered feature makes use of bluetooth to connect the controllers with the NVIDIA Shield TV. This is a lot simpler than the past methods mentioned.

The process of pairing the controllers with the NVIDIA Shield TV varies per controller. Other users say that for the new feature to be activated the controller must first be connected with a USB cable to the TV.

To pair the DualShock 3 controller, connect the controller to the TV via USB cable. Go to the settings menu and scroll to "Accessories". See if your controller is listed. If the controller is already listed, the USB cable can already be removed, bluetooth connection will already be enabled.

For the DualShock 4 controller, hold the PS button and share button. When the light starts blinking, go to Settings then to Add accessory. Pair the NVIDIA Shield TV with the controller once the TV has already discovered the controller via bluetooth.
