Sony has just updated its PlayStation Virtual Reality to support Youtube 360˚ videos. This update to the PlayStation VR headset was announced by Sony in the official PlayStation Blog. However, it appears that not all users were able to download the update or access the new feature.
In the announcement posted on the PlayStation Blog dated Jan. 19, Sony has encouraged PlayStation VR headset users to download the update and recommend their favorite videos in the comment box. According to Sony the addition of support for Youtube 360˚ videos only is just a continuation of its mission to provide PlayStation VR headset users a cutting edge VR experience.
Though PS VR headset users are already able to watch videos in their VR headset, the videos that they are able to access does not include Youtube videos. This, in particular, is quite disappointing since not only is Youtube the largest video sharing site but also because almost all top VR headsets already include support for Youtube 360˚ videos.
The Youtube 360˚ video PlayStation VR support will allow users to access the vast video channels of the video sharing site. Another great news is that the update will not only include support for 2D Youtube 360˚ videos but will also support the 3D ones.
In a Reddit post, netizens have posted a number of the best 3D Youtube 360˚ videos that PlayStation Virtual Reality headset can watch. The inclusion of the Youtube 360˚ videos support for PlayStation VR is but another update to the VR brand of Sony. Just recently, it released an official stand for the PS VR headset.
Though a number of PS VR headset owners have already experienced the exciting new feature, some users are going to some social media sites to complain about their not being able to access the feature nor the update itself. No reports or announcements from Sony is made as to the concerns of the other PlayStation VR headset users.
