Google has just announced that it will soon add support for Home Control in its Google Pixel. This great update comes a report that the Google Home has added support for Honeywell and WeMo.
Though both launched as Google Assistant in Pixel and Google Home, the voice-activated assistants actually has a number of feature differences. The Google Assistant in Pixel, unlike in Google Home, does not have support for Netflix, Google Photos and a numerous more third-party actions.
The addition of support for Home Control in Google Pixel will soon bridge the gap between the two voice assistants of Google with the same name. Though no date has been announced yet for the release of the update, the idea that Google Pixel users may already control their home appliances with their device is already a great news.
Another great news for Google Home users is the addition of Honeywell and WeMo in the list of Google Home supported device. According to reports, the support for the two brands has just been rolled up yesterday.
It can be remembered that Belkin has already announced that WeMo controls, switches and outlets are already being geared to add support for the Google Home back in December. But the collaboration between the two companies failed to materialize before 2016 ended.
Google Home also added support for Honeywell thermostat. This means that the appliance will now respond to Google Assistant's voice commands.
To setup the two additional brands, Users must open the app for Google Home. Users must then slide the side menu to access more settings then tap on Home Control. Tap the "+" button and then select WeMo and Honeywell.
Amazon's Alexa and its Echo has been declared the runaway winner in the recently concluded CES. Adding support for the Google Pixel and adding more brands to its Google Home may just be the boost that Google needs to catch up with Amazon.
