There have been reports that NVidia Shield TV 2015 and 2017 now works with PlayStation 4 and Xbox One controllers. However, it's not certain if this is an exclusive feature to the latest Android Nougat update of the Shield TV or if this is a feature of Android Nougat.
Another report says that there are other devices that are also running Android Nougat were able to take advantage of the same game controllers so it's likely that this is Google's update and not NVidia's. This indeed good news to all users but pairing a controller and get their gaming on don't come easy as there will be one or two hoops to go through, which will depend on the controller that users may want to connect.
Furthermore, PS3's DualShock 3 controller basically works with NVidia Shield TV although it does require a wired connection to set up and once these steps are carried out, the USB cable can be disconnected. This leaves users a wireless controller once again.
On the plus side, DualShock 4 PlayStation 4 controller pairing doesn't require a cable. As for Xbox Wireless Controller, one user with an Xbox One S was able to pair its Wireless Controller to the NVidia Shield TV but said that the button is a bit skewed, though other users said that theirs work fine. Howbeit, no matter the reasons are and the steps required to do so, the idea of using the consoles' controllers with Android games through the NVidia Shield TV is certainly uplifting.
Additionally, uses should ensure that they updated their NVidia Shield TV to the latest software update available to be able to connect DualShock or Xbox One controller to it. In other news, the NVidia Shield TV Pro is reportedly to deliver the 4K HDR streaming, which is the most advanced streamer packed with remarkable software features, AI home functions, games, and a 500 GB HD.
