Thomas Mahler, CEO of Moon Studios that developed the game "Ori and the Blind Forest" dubbed the upcoming Xbox console upgrade Project Scorpio as a "full-blown next gen machine," according to a report by Game Rant.
This means that the Scorpio must be in the hands of the developers or the very least had the chance to scrutinize the next Xbox console as Microsoft plans to release the same this year, the company claims it as the most powerful console ever. Now that the Nintendo Switch's specs have been released and didn't even attempt to push the limits of its device, Microsoft's claims may be more accurate than people might think.
Mahler also gave his personal opinion about Sony's PS4 Pro console, calling it a "half-assed upgrade." He explained that Project Scorpio is a next-gen console that will let users play old games from Xbox One and Xbox 360.
"Ori and the Blind Forest" is one of the most popular games of Xbox One, Mahler probably had the chance to use the Xbox Scorpio so he may have an accurate comparison of the two consoles. Although, Mahler may have a better relationship with Microsoft than Sony as "Ori and the Blind Forest" was published by Microsoft.
In addition, Microsoft has stated that the Xbox Project Scorpio will not be a next-gen machine in the traditional sense, rather, will be an upgrade to Xbox One. Phil Spencer, head of Xbox stated that the next console is making amazing progress and heading firmly towards a 2017 release. Spencer didn't mention the exact price of the console but added that it will not be comparable to high-end PC's.
