Game director Hajime Tabata discusses the upcoming update for "Final Fantasy XV" that will bring significant changes to chapter 13 and single-player episodes of the game according to SegmentNext. Tabata clarified that the upcoming updates should be considered as two different types of content, one is a free DLC that offers enhancement of the game, while the other is a paid content that provides new ways to enjoy the game.
Tabata stated that the content of chapter 13 was a decision made by the development team, although they didn't expect the amount of stress being inflicted on the players while playing this particular chapter as many of the players are infuriated by the chapter's design and difficulty. Hopefully with this update, it will resolve the issue to bring a better playing experience.
Square Enix also announced a downloadable content in which a series of single-player episodes will be available for the game according to Gamespot. In this feature, the game focuses on Noctis' companions as players may now play as Prompto, Gladio and Ignis for the first time, each with their own stories.
Tabata said players that are used to playing the more traditional "Final Fantasy" games may feel uneasy about this unfamiliar initiative. He believes updating single-player games will continue on in the future as a new trend.
