What a bad news for Kingdom Hearts fans. Square Enix is putting Missing-Link on indefinite delay and this means that we won't see it anytime soon this year.
For Kingdom Hearts players, the postponement is disappointing although this is not new anymore. Still, it would be another waiting game for them before they see the game on mobile. The second close beta test for the game was rescheduled from April to May 2024.
Imagine Kingdom Hearts Missing-Link As Pokémon GO
Designed as Square Enix's answer to Pokémon GO, Kingdom Hearts Missing-Link marries real-world exploration with Disney and Kingdom Hearts worlds. According to GameRant, players can collect Disney-themed "Pieces" and fight Heartless with friends using either GPS-Mode: Interact with the environment in space and time Touch-Mode: Teleport to places and so remain accessible to players who are not able to move around.
This dual-mode functionality sets the game apart, offering inclusivity while promoting both physical activity and an immersive gaming experience.
New Kingdom Hearts Mobile Delay Spells Disaster
To date, the company has not revealed its reasons for the delay, but the game's development seems to need more time to polish the features that appear ambitious. This statement follows a series of quiet updates; many people are starting to think that the team is taking extreme care so the final game is turned out well.
We haven't gotten an answer from Square Enix, but they have issued an apology lately, hoping that fans can understand the situation better.
"We sincerely apologize to all players who have been looking forward to the release. We appreciate your patience. Please look forward to further information." Square Enix said.
What to Expect For Kingdom Hearts Missing-Link
Although the bad news about the delay and Square Enix's apology isn't enough to cure the heartache of the patient gamers, we can expect a lot of interesting things about this upcoming mobile game.
Kingdom Hearts Missing-Link promises to be a combination of action RPG elements that allow character customizations and an AP stamina system. Fans are particularly interested in the prospect of it being connected with Kingdom Hearts 4, though Square Enix still has not confirmed this.
Kingdom Hearts Creator Hints Retirement
Adding to the suspense is news from Tetsuya Nomura, co-creator of Kingdom Hearts, who has made hints at plans for retirement.
With his intent to wrap up the series' sprawling narrative that began in 2002, Missing-Link may play a significant role in bridging the gap between past and future installments.
