In an unexpected way, Naughty Dog presented the trailer of "The Last of Us 2" at the PlayStation Experience in December. Since that unannounced trailer, many fans created their own theories about the game's new plot. Recently, Neil Druckmann had an interview stating that Ellie will have a peculiar love interest.

In a report by IBTimes, Naughty Dog game creator Neil Druckmann did an interview with Gay Gamer. Druckmann confirmed that Ellie was always written as a gay character for the game. Druckmann added that the scene with Riley was not made up.

In the "The Last of Us: Left Behind" that was a mini-game from the game itself, Druckmann revealed that Riley and Ellie were infected. Riley then suggested that they have two options: to shoot each other or spend the time the pair still have together.

But before that even happened, both characters did share a kiss together, in which Ellie apologized for. However, Riley was cool with it and told Ellie that there's nothing to apologize for.

Meanwhile, Druckmann further revealed that even the actresses were working on the mo-cap and the idea was they're both attracted to each other. Druckmann added that there is a chemistry present from the get go that was important for the developers.

Furthermore, there is high hopes that gamers will see Ellie in the game with a female love interest. However, there is still no confirmation about this happening in the sequel and fans would like to take this report with a grain of salt.

Meanwhile, there was a previous fan theory about Ellie being Theseus. Theseus was a demi-god and the son of Aethra, Aegeus, and Poseidon. Theseus was one of the seven men who was sent to kill Minotaur.

The point of the theory is Ellie will be focused on taking revenge from the Fireflies who are sent to get other people and serve as a cure in the infection. Neil Druckmann did teased that "The Last of Us 2" story is about hate and rage.
