It looks like fans of Square Enix's upcoming role-playing game, "Final Fantasy VII Remake" are in for a big surprise next month. Game director Tetsuya Nomura spilled the beans about his plans to make an appearance at a major international conference. Now, optimistic fans are taking this as an indication that "Final Fantasy VII Remake" launch could be just around the corner.

Avid gamers have been restlessly waiting for more than a year for "Final Fantasy VII Remake" to hit the stores, but much to their dismay that has not happened yet. However, a new report from Express links Nomura's appearance at the Monaco Anime Game International Conference (MAGIC) to an impending launch.

Nomura will be attending the conference on Feb. 18, where he is likely to take the wraps off the long-awaited "Final Fantasy VII Remake" and finally shed more light on the title's release date. He might also roll out brand new gameplay footage for the fans to delve into.

However, fans are advised not get their hopes high yet since neither the game developer nor the publisher has officially confirmed this. Moreover, there is a possibility that he might not mention "Final Fantasy VII Remake." Nevertheless, he could provide a status update on the lauded project, or at least confirm plans to release the title on Xbox One.

The remake of the fan-favorite "FF7" has been subject to a slew of rumors and leaks. The rumor mill continues to churn all sorts of speculation around the game's release date indicating that it will arrive sometime this year.

In line with this, retailer EB Games has listed "The Final Fantasy VII Remake" on its online store with a pre-order price of $109.95. This was merely a placeholder, though. Aside from that, the release date of the console was not indicated as well. Nevertheless, the listing pointed at a 2017 launch for the "Final Fantasy VII Remake."

But that's not all; the EB Games listing also showed an Xbox One version of the "Final Fantasy VII Remake." This is quite interesting as the game was originally announced for PlayStation 4.

Furthermore, multiple reports claim that the game might bear a striking resemblance to "Final Fantasy XV" as a third-person action RPG (role-playing game). It is also expected to be episodic.

More details are likely to surface online soon. Stay tuned in here for more "Final Fantasy VII Remake" news and other updates.
