In an effort to get people off of Windows 7, the German subsidiary of Microsoft published a blog that detailed the consequences in using the 2009 operating system. Apparently, the extended support that Windows 7 is getting from the company will end permanently in three years. That said, users are recommended to update to Windows 10 as early as now to prevent any security and technical concerns with their OS.

A report by Computer World revealed a translated part of the German blog where it stated that the operating costs of Windows 7 are now getting more expensive. This is because of the increase in support and maintenance it needs especially during malware attacks. Additionally, the old OS is being left behind because it cannot keep up with the advancements in security requirements.

The blog also pointed out that it is recommended for companies to begin updating to Windows 10 because Windows 7 is patterned from an old and outdated security architecture that might present dangers in the future. Windows 10, as per the blog, is packed with security improvements and advanced functions that would benefit customers such as Windows Hello. Windows Hello is a security biometric feature that uses fingerprint, face or iris recognition instead of passwords.

It also mentioned a couple of Windows 10 features such as the Windows Defender Advanced Threat Protection, Windows Information Protection and Windows Store for Business, which are all very useful to companies. Of course, the blog also discussed Cortana, the Windows 10 personal assistant and the digital pen called Windows Ink. It also reminded readers of the arrival of the upcoming Windows update called the Creators Update that is expected to bring more advanced technologies, including 3D and mixed reality features for gaming.

Microsoft's security updates and technical support for Windows 7 will end on Jan. 14, 2010. Now that you know that the former OS will no longer be supported by the company, are you ready to update to Windows 10? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
