Matt McCloskey, ex-Chief Operating Officer of 343 Industries, shocked consumers when he switched teams halfway through a project. As the development team behind the famous "Halo" franchise and with "Halo 6" looming over the horizon, it was a blow 343 Industries definitely didn't need.
While obviously a concern for many fans, others were inclined to see this in positive light. Could McCloskey's sudden switch to Twitch mean that "Halo 6" is pretty much ready to go? A good number seem to think so and have in fact predicted that the game may release alongside Microsoft's next-gen Project Scorpio console launch.
TweakTown reports evidence to support this, sourcing everything from McCloskey's LinkedIn profile to previous statements released by 343 Industries. They also mention how "Halo 6" could compliment Project Scorpio's official launch. Mobipicker agrees with the sentiment, saying that Project Scorpio "needs a major hit game" to supplement its release.
McCloskey was, indeed, a huge transformative source for the Halo series and his exit in the middle of the one of the biggest projects doesn't make sense. Ergo, the assumption that "Halo 6" is as good as finished at this point and gearing up for official launch is a safe one to make.
However, Segment Next points out the McCloskey's leaving is, in no way, connected to "Halo 6"'s development progress. McCloskey, as CEO of 343i, was more on the business side of things.
Regardless of his drive behind the Halo franchise, Segment Next points out that he was not part of development. The same article also points out that he left once "Halo Wars 2 was complte and ready for Windows 10 and Xbox One."
Project Scorpio has been rumoured to launch during E3 2017, which is slated for June this year. Given that there's no official word yet from 343i or Microsoft, giving "Halo 6" the same release date is a bit far-fetched. Even Project Scorpio's launch may not make it by June 2017, according to International Business Times.
Regardless, the best fans have to go off right now are rumors and speculations. There has been no official release date for "Halo 6", leaving it squarely under the 'in development' category for now. It will be available for PC and Xbox One.
