Several phones are planned to be launched this year by HTC but the HTC 11 will not be one of these introductions. It looks like a different smartphone will be the flagship device of the brand.

No HTC 11?

HTC president of Smartphone and Connected Devices Chialin Chang revealed in an Engadget interview that no device slated for this year will be called the HTC 11. He, however, noted that the company is planning to release about six or seven phones including the the earlier announced HTC U Play and HTC U Ultra.

Even though HTC will not be launched this year, it could still introduce a 2017 flagship device. This is expected to come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset.

Trusted Reviews earlier revealed that HTC is following up its HTC 10 release with the HTC 11 this year. The device was said to be the most premium offering from HTC for this year.

HTC U Ultra and HTC U Play

It looks like the focus will be on the HTC U Ultra and the HTC U Ultra Play. The HTC U Ultra is said to be the flagship offering of HTC and will be sold for a retail price of $750, Forbes reported.

Specs and features

The phone is expected to have 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal memory with the option to expand the memory with microSD slot. It is also thought to have a 5.7-inch screen and a powerful 12MP main camera.

And because it is a premium offering, the HTC U Ultra will be made with a glass body. Fans, however, would not like that the phone is not water-resistant and that it also opted to remove the headphone jack.

On the other hand, the HTC U Play will come with a 5.2-inch display, 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, according to Gadgets NDTV. It is set to be powered by the Android 7.0 to ensure that applications will run smoothly.
