"God of War" is still in development so very little is known about the game. Most probably, one important detail that was ever revealed until now is about the identity of Kratos' son. Just before the weekend, the Ghost of Sparta's son's name was revealed to be Atreus.

The name was not really announced, but rather, a fan accidentally discovered this bit of detail after "God of War" director Cory Barlog tweeted on Jan. 13, "Crazy busy with the game - thank you so much for 15M views and inspiring us with your passion! Limited time download, you rock @bearmccreary."

Apparently, one sharp fan whose handle name is Fabiano Banin, noticed something in the game's mp3 and took the chance to ask about it via Barlog's tweet, "@corybarlog @bearmccreary Who is Atreus?! On mp3 tag we have this: "An introduction to Kratos and Atreus" Is Atreus son of Kratos?!"

Barlog replied and confirmed that Atreus is indeed Kratos' son. He also told Banin that it was a "nice discovery." The mp3 that Banin was referring to is the music download that was given away by Sony Santa Monica to fans.

It was meant to be a reward after the "God of War" trailer hit 15 million views on YouTube. The video was unveiled at the 2016 E3 gaming convention and the overture was composed by Bear McCreary.

While the information is not really that big, at least it is an indication that "God of War" is on the right track and its development is progressing well. Most likely, players will hear more about the game in the coming days, and perhaps, the release date will finally be confirmed and announced.

Meanwhile, Game Rant stated that the reveal of Atreus' name may actually mean more to the game. It is a Greek name, so it was suggested that the boy's role may be bigger since he could also be somehow related to Kratos' past. "God of War" is slated for release on PlayStation 4 on a yet to be confirmed launch date.
