Amidst the lack of an official announcement, avid gamers have been restlessly waiting for Rockstar Games to shed more light on the release date of the long-awaited "Red Dead Redemption 2," but thanks to an online British retailer's website, 'RDR2" fans might finally have an idea about when the game is slated to hit the store shelves.
Still riding high on the success of "GTA 5," Rockstar Games has been reportedly turning deaf ears to the plea of the huge fanbase of the "Red Dead" series that has been clamoring for the sequel to the hit western action-adventure video game dubbed, "Red Dead Redemption 2."
While the game developer has neither confirmed nor denied reports hinting at an approaching release date for "RDR2," a recently surfaced listing on a British retailer's website could finally spill the beans about the forthcoming western title's release date.
A screenshot that made its way online via fan site RDR2 seemingly confirmed the exact release date set for "Red Dead Redemption 2." The online store, Littlewoods, originally listed the upcoming game as bearing a release date of Oct. 2, 2017.
This coincides with Rockstar's confirmation about the title's launch in fall 2017. The online shop has since altered the date that was originally listed, with the time frame for "RDR2's" availability now pointing to a date of Dec. 29, 2017.
Notably, the purported October release date for "Red Dead Redemption 2" falls on a Monday, which is not an ideal launch day for games, meaning, the October release date could have merely been a placeholder for the time being. Then, it would be pointless for Littlewoods to now hint at December launch instead.
According to a theory by Game Rant, Littlewoods comprehended how closely its unconfirmed listing coincided with Rockstar Games' announcement of a fall release and perhaps, this compelled the retailer to change it in order to avoid coming under fire from the developer.
It is worth noting that Rockstar Games lips are sealed regarding "Red Dead Redemption 2" exact release date and other details. Nevertheless, the game developer has already hinted at a fall release for the title, which should come early October.
Meanwhile, some optimistic fans are hoping to catch a glimpse of "RDR2" at E3 (Electronic Entertainment Expo) 2017. However, until Rockstar Games comes out with a formal announcement on the "Red Dead Redemption 2" exact release date, it is best to take these reports with a huge grain of salt.
