A number of iPhone 7 Plus users are complaining that their camera on their devices suddenly stops working. As reported by zenexp, users are getting a black screen and are unable to launch the camera app. This issue seems to be with the iPhone 7 Plus devices only.
Some users claim that they can shoot pictures sometimes but are getting green and purple tinted images. Sometimes their devices will prompt them with a message "Emergency iPhone needs to cool down" and shuts down even though the device is not warm.
Apple has yet to comment about the issue but they are fixing the devices with similar issues by replacing the camera or the device itself.
It is not yet known whether the hardware or the software causes the problem but some users say that it started before and after they have updated their devices to firmware iOS 10.2, so it is probably a hardware issue. Other speculation suggests that there might be a problem with the flex cable inside the phone that may result in a defective thermal register lines that cause the emergency heat warning.
Users with the same problems have no choice but to go to the nearest Apple Store to get a replacement of the camera or the whole device.
According to phonearena, because of the thin design of the Apple smartphone, the dual camera may begin having some issues once people start using it on a daily basis. The dual camera was integrated to the iPhone 7 Plus for true optical zoom and capable of capturing portraits with beautifully blurred backgrounds.
It is unknown what the exact number of users is with this issue but if it becomes a common problem, Apple may have to issue a recall on their iPhone 7 Plus device.
