It's the season of giving and Xbox Live Gold members are on the receiving end for one heck of a Christmas present. As part of their Games with Gold program, Microsoft revealed the list of games Xbox Live Gold members can get for free next month.
There are a grand total of four free titles coming your way in January 2017 --- two for the Xbox One and two for Xbox 360. According to Major Nelson, the two free games for Xbox 360 are also playable on Xbox One with Backward Compatibility.
For Xbox One players, your titles include World of Van Helsing: Deathtrap, a tower defense game normally priced at $19.99; and the Ultra Edition of Killer Instinct Seasons 2, a popular one-on-one fighting game that normally retails for $39.99. Both are free to download starting January 16 until February 15, 2017.
Titles for Xbox 360 players include the adventure game The Cave with a regular price of $14.99, which will be available for free download starting January 1 to January 15. You may also download the classic comic adventure game Rayman Origins, which usually goes for $15, at no charge starting January 16 until January 31, 2017. Again, these two titles are also playable on the Xbox One.
For those unfamiliar with the Games with Gold program, it's essentially an exclusive on-going contract that provides free monthly games for members with an Xbox Live Gold subscription. Other perks include discounts and multiplayer capabilities. The ongoing rate for a subscription is currently $10 per month or $60 per year. According to PC Mag however, there's a current promotional offer on the 12-month subscription --- cutting the price down to just $49.99.
While waiting, the Games with Gold freebies are still available for this month. If you haven't downloaded your free titles yet, Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition and Outlast are available for Xbox One. For Xbox 360, you still have a couple days left to download your free copy of Burnout Paradise.
