Red Dead Redemption 2 is, without an iota of doubt, one of the most anticipated console games in 2017. But still, the upcoming action-adventure video game has been subjected to a slew of rumors, leaks, and speculations; and now, the latest buzz surrounding RDR 2 suggest that it will bear a striking resemblance to GTA 5.

Rockstar Games is currently gearing up to release the long-awaited sequel to 2010's Red Dead Redemption. Despite GTA 5 garnering a fabled cult following and taking the video game realm by storm, several zealous gamers have been clamoring for the Red Dead series' next installment and it looks like Rockstar is finally giving in.

A serial leaker, who was behind the latest leaks about GTA Online's updates and other crucial details, claims that Red Dead Redemption 2 could turn out to be just like GTA 5.

For instance, RDR 2 will feature gang hideouts, stranger events, open world, and single player story. In addition, Red Dead Redemption 2 could also revolve around three protagonists from John's previous gang; however, John is not one of them, according to a blog post by a NeoGaf member known as Simo, who cited an insider that allegedly works at Rockstar. In other words, RDR 2 could turn out to be quite different from what previously surfaced rumors have indicated.

Still riding high on the success of GTA Online, Rockstar Games is likely to have an online mode for Red Dead Redemption 2 as well. However, it will debut a year after the game is released; meaning, it could be included in a software update. The plan behind this is to promote single player usage and at the same time, confirm that the servers are not being overloaded in the wake of the get-go, Gizmodo reported.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is slated to hit the store shelves in fall 2017. Although there's no word yet about the platforms it will be playable on, it is likely going to be exclusive for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 --- if the lack of a PC or a Steam logo on their official website is anything to go by.
