THQ Nordic confirms that the Wii U version of "Darksiders Warmastered Edition" is still in the works, as well as two mystery projects for Nintendo's latest console, the Nintendo Switch.
Speaking to Nintendo Everything, THQ Nordic's Reinhard Pollice said that the publisher is still working on the Wii U version of the remastered classic, dispelling rumors about the port being cancelled.
"The main challenge of the Warmastered Edition project was besides the upgrade and improvement to bring it out on many different platforms," Pollice said. "We spent more time on a few things than we thought and optimizing the game for the Wii U is still a tough task. So we made the call of releasing it properly and the only conclusion was to delay it."
THQ Nordic also said that they will continue supporting the console despite a lot of major third parties abandoning the platform.
"When it makes sense and there is a possibility to bring a game to another platform we are always interested in actually doing that," Pollice said. "Also I think that Nintendo platforms are always worth supporting as Nintendo has a very passionate fan base on their systems."
Speaking of Nintendo, THQ Nordic has also confirmed that they are also working on two projects for its upcoming Nintendo Switch console, although Pollice has not revealed what these mystery titles would be.
Earlier this year, Nordic Games announced on an official statement that the company has rebranded itself to THQ Nordic, incorporating the THQ name in the brand. The publisher has also confirmed that they have 23 game projects in development, of which some are THQ owned franchises.
Rumors about "Darksiders 3" have also been floating around, and it would be great to see a possible Nintendo Switch port for the highly anticipated sequel. "Titan Quest," "Red Faction," and "Deadly Creatures" are also possible candidates, although Pollice mentioned a "disappointing" setback regarding the latter.
"Darksiders Warmastered Edition" was released for Playstation 4 and Xbox One on Nov. 22, and on Windows and Linux a week after.
