THQ Nordic is releasing the remastered version of the first "Darksiders," oddly named "Darksiders Warmastered Edition."
Austria-based company Nordic Games, now rebranded as THQ Nordic, has announced "Darksiders: Warmastered Edition" in July this year, which is due to be released on Nov. 22. Here are some reasons why you should be getting the game.
A Beautifully Rendered "Darksiders" World
Both diehard "Darksiders" and newcomers alike will not be disappointed with the visual quality that THQ Nordic promised to deliver. The new edition will feature native 1080p rendering, 60 FPS gameplay, and improved graphics. THQ Nordic's business and product development director Reinhard Pollice detailed the changes during an interview with GamingBolt.
"So actually the whole backend renderer was replaced.," Pollice said. "We have done a lot of reworks to the shadow quality by increasing the resolution by 4 times and using different methods to make it look better."
"We have also added some nice post processing effects like chromatic aberration, sharpen and FXAA but we know that they are a matter of taste so users can switch them off - even on the console versions," he continued. "Overall we increased all texture resolutions by 4 or at least 2 times."
"Darksiders" in full 4K glory, who would want to miss that?
Awesome Storyline
Without giving away anything, true "Darksiders" fans will tell you how amazing the game's storyline is. The folks at Vigil Games did a great job with the game's story, and THQ Nordic promises to preserve it in the remastered edition.
Hack N' Slash Mayhem
There is a lack of hack 'n slash games in the market nowadays, and the return of "Darksiders" will definitely fill that gap. Most have compared the original game to other popular IP's such as "God of War" and "Devil May Cry," while "Darksiders" designer Joe Madureira said that the game is influenced by Nintendo's epic game "The Legend of Zelda" due to its "open world hub-and-dungeon" elements.
The result is a highly addictive, fun gameplay.
Mark Hamill Returns as The Watcher
As WWG.com has put it, there is one other thing to get excited about "Darksiders Warmastered Edition." The remastered edition signals the return of War's foulmouthed guide and Warden, The Watcher., who is voiced by none other than the master himself, renowned voice actor Mark Hamill.
The Playstation 4, Xbox One, and Wii U ports of the "Darksiders" remastered version will be out on Nov. 22, while the PC version will be launched a week after its console counterparts on Nov. 29.
