There are still a few weeks before 2016 ends, and while everybody already knows that "Rick and Morty" Season 3 will probably have its broadcast premiere next year, will Adult Swim and series producers pull off a surprise release?
A lot of inconsistencies between the show producers' statements were the reason of several speculations about the show's third season premiere date. The show's merchandise partner, Zen Monkey Studios, recently suggested the show's broadcast delay by posting an image macro meme tweet.
The studio may not have in-depth information about the broadcast dates, but this can be considered a credible source, given their relationship with "Rick and Morty's" producers.
Furthermore, Design Assistant PopDavid on Reddit previously called every rumor into question, contradicted his co-workers' previous statements, and stated that majority of Season 3 material are not finished yet.
However, PopDavid indeed mentioned that there is one episode fully-animated. With this, and Adult Swim not providing concrete details to its plot and release date, there is very little chance that "Rick and Morty" will have a surprise broadcast premiere.
There is also a chance that "Rick and Morty" Season 3 might debut sometime earlier than the April 2017 speculated release date, according to Inquisitr. Fans discussed the possibility of it, given the whole nature of the series.
Avid "Rick and Morty" followers also discussed the likelihood of having bizarre story continuations, such as not giving proper explanation on Rick's sudden escape after being taken away to prison at the end of Season 2.
On the other hand, fans also speculate that Season 3 will give more details about Rick's rescue and eventual escape from the Galactic Federation prison. However, it is reported that things will go quite fast as Rick would be fine after a few episodes, and the third season will not focus much on Season 2's cliffhangers.
Stay tuned for more "Rick and Morty" news and updates.
