Warwick Davis, 46, has secured a pivotal role in "Star Wars: Episode 8," an upcoming epic space opera film to be directed by Rian Johnson.

In a recent interview with Australian television network, Davis confirmed he will star in the second installment of the "Star Wars" sequel trilogy. However, the "Willow" actor is keeping mum about his character, only going as far as to say that he will play a pivotal role in the film.

"I do, yes. That's all I can say," Davis told the publication when asked whether he had a role in "Star Wars: Episode 8."

Although Davis stressed he could not discuss in-depth details about the film, he teased some plot details - comparing "Star Wars: Episode 8" to the 1980 film "The Empire Strikes Back."

"I think [The Force Awakens] sets up the trilogy very well," Davis said. "Obviously, we're moving into the territory of Episode VIII very soon as well, and much like 'The Empire Strikes Back' I'm sure it's going to deliver some quite impactful story moments, and it'll leave us with some cliffhangers as well which resolve in Episode IX."

It is important to note that this is not the first time "Star Wars: Episode 8" has been compared to hit 1980 film. In a previous interview with Collider, actor Adam Driver, who plays Kylo Ren, stated that the upcoming film is similar to how "The Empire Strikes Back" has a different tone.

"For that people always go 'oooh, it's dark' but I don't know that it necessarily is," he added. "It's just different in tone in a way that I think is great and necessary, but also very clear."

Meanwhile, Warwick Davis will join previously announced stars Mark Hamill, Adam Driver, Carrie Fisher, Daisy Ridley, Oscar Isaac, John Boyega, Lupita Nyong'o, Anthony Daniels, Domhnall Gleeson, Gwendoline Christie, Benicio del Toro, Andy Serkis, Kelly Marie Tran and Laura Dern.

"Star Wars: Episode 8" is scheduled for release on Dec. 15, 2017.
