Playtonic Games' upcoming platformer "Yooka-Laylee" will be getting a physical copy upon release.
The indie development studio has recently announced on its official page that the "Banjo-Kazooie" spiritual successor will go out in both physical and digital forms at launch.
"We're delighted to be able to offer 'Yooka-Laylee' in both digital and boxed flavours in time for the game's launch in Q1 2017," the Playtonic team wrote on the site.
The Kickstarter-funded platformer game was initially slated for a digital release only, but fans will be delighted to know that the game will also be available to purchase physically.
"As we speak, our business badgers are busily burrowing away on an initiative that will allow Kickstarter backers to upgrade their digital pledge to a physical version, if they choose to do so." the team also said.
As of the moment, the Playtonic team is hard at work in making sure that they meet their deadline this time. "Yooka-Laylee" was originally set for an October 2016 release date, but was pushed back to the first quarter of 2017.
"Ultimately, this will allow us to deliver a better game to the tens of thousands of you who've supported us throughout development," Playtonic Games creative director Gavin Price said in June. "And that's what we all want, right?"
The game, codenamed "Project Ukulele," was announced on the crowdfunding site on May 1, 2015. The Kickstarter campaign was so successful that it smashed its initial goal of £175,000 ( more than $255,000) within only thirty-eight minutes, and its highest goal of £1 million ($1.4 million) in 21 hours. The campaign was at the time the fastest video game in Kickstarter history to hit the $1 million mark, according to Hardcore Gamer.
"Yooka-Laylee" will be available on Windows, Mac, Linux, Playstation 4, Xbox One ,and Wii U upon launch.
