The sequel to the hit role-playing video game "Wasteland 2" is officially happening. InXile Entertainment just announced plans to release "Wasteland 3" for Microsoft Windows, Mac OS, Linux, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
In order to fund the development of "Wasteland 3," InXile Entertainment will launch a crowd funding campaign on Oct. 5, Wednesday, with a funding target of $2.75 million, News Everyday reported. Of that, $2.25 million is the maximum inXile will take for equity, while $1000 is the minimum investment.
"I think that Fig has more opportunity ... because if these games start returning profits to people that's something that you'll never get tired of," Brian Fargo told Polygon. "And it's a system that you'll return to. I think with more excitement each time rather than less excitement each time."
"Wasteland 3" is a party-based role-playing game, with a recharged focus on the complex story reactivity and strategic combat. It will highlight a profound and engaging story using a newly-revamped dialog tree system.
The upcoming game will be set in the savage terrains of frozen Colorado, where survival is troublesome and a happy ending is never guaranteed. Players will confront difficult moral choices and make several sacrifices that will change the game world.
What's more, players will be able to bring a companion with them on their quest into the post-apocalyptic terrains. The game opens up the possibility to play through the campaign with a companion; both controlling their own respective squad of Rangers.
"We're going to have a fucking blast with it," Fargo added. "And it's not just solving puzzles together. It's about narrative multiplayer and what can happen when the two of us are in a world, independent of each other, doing other things on the map."
