Vin Diesel has reportedly joined the cast of "Rick and Morty" season 3 with Chris Parnell, Spencer Grammer, and Sarah Chalke. Rumor has it that the "Fast and Furious" star will now voice Mr. Meeseeks.

The rumor began after showrunner Dan Harmon previously expressed his interest in tapping Diesel to dub a pivotal character in "Rick and Morty" season 3. Since it was already confirmed that Mr. Meeseeks will be back next season, it is now strongly speculated that Diesel will voice the returning blue-skinned alien.

Mr. Meeseeks, who was first seen in the premiere episode of "Rick and Morty" season 1, was actually voiced by showrunner Justin Roiland. Nonetheless, the casting news should be taken lightly, as neither of them hasn't confirmed anything yet.

With "Rick and Morty" season 3 now in development, the showrunners and the rest of the cast revealed that the hit sitcom will return later this year with longer and darker episodes, Yahoo! Tech reported.

The publication revealed that the third season of "Rick and Morty" will comprise of 14-episode, which is 4 more than the second season. "Rick and Morty" season 1, on the other hand, consisted of only 11-episode.

The cast and crew also teased that the eagerly anticipated season three will have darker storylines, as the series will now further explore the complexity and depth of its characters. Recently, writer Mike McMahan took to Twitter and explained to fans that the making of "Rick and Morty" season 3 really takes time.

Up until today, there is no official world regarding the storyline of "Rick and Morty" season 3. Regardless, it is strongly speculated that there will be an intense breakout scene in the season 3's premiere episode.

The 90-second long trailer seemingly hints at Rick Sanchez escaping from the Galactic Federation Prison. It is believed that someone will presumably barge into the prison to rescue the genius scientist.

Avid viewers may recall the "Rick and Morty" season 2 ended with Rick Sanchez turning himself in the Galactic Federation Prison, freeing his family from a life on the run. "Rick and Morty" Season 3 is expected to hit small screens in December 2016.
