Samsung has finally released the One UI 7 beta for Galaxy devices, which starts with the Galaxy S24 series.

The update comes based on Android 15 and is highly loaded with design changes and new features targeting the enhancement of user experience.

Samsung One UI 7 Beta Has Dropped

With a major overhaul, the new One UI 7 is what Samsung boasts for its fans. There are tons of updates that we could see here from system design to functionality. Here's what to expect:

A Fresh Visual Overhaul

One UI 7 completely refreshes the entire interface of the UI, including:

  • Homescreen and Widgets: Improved layout and customizable.
  • Notification Tray and Quick Settings: Split into two different panels for an optional look.
  • System App Icons: Modern, bold design for icons.
  • Lock Screen Tweaks: New customizations and functionalities.

There is "Now Bar"

One of the most exciting features in One UI 7 is the "Now Bar," a dynamic notification system that somewhat resembles Apple's Dynamic Island. The Now Bar is displayed mainly on the lock screen and gives real-time updates on:

  • Timers
  • Music playback
  • Workout progress

Other Relevant Activities

Samsung has not confirmed if third-party apps will be able to access the Now Bar, but its introduction shows a move towards smarter notifications.

AI-Powered Enhancements

Samsung is incorporating sophisticated AI tools to enhance the user experience:

  • Writing Assist Features: AI tools summarize, spell-check, and even write text for the user.
  • Call Transcripts: Automatic transcription is available if call recording is turned on.
  • Camera App Redesign
  • The camera app has been redesigned for improved usability:
  • Reorganized Buttons and Modes: The new design simplifies access to advanced settings.
  • Enhanced Pro Mode: Users can control zoom speed and achieve greater precision.
  • Better Previews: Enhanced view of images and videos while shooting.

Why Was One UI 7 Delayed?

According to 9to5Google, Android 15 was released earlier in 2023 and was rapidly rolled out to devices like the Google Pixel and OnePlus. Samsung, however, had a delay.

According to insiders, the scope of One UI 7's updates, especially its AI integrations and design overhauls, needed more development time.

Where and How to Download the One UI 7 Beta

One UI 7 beta is now available for Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, and Galaxy S24 Ultra. In the first phase, the beta is rolled out in:

  • United States
  • South Korea
  • United Kingdom
  • India
  • Germany
  • Poland

Beta registration can be done by users through the Samsung Members application.

One UI 7 Full Release Timeline

One UI 7 will be totally implemented in the first quarter of 2025, along with the launch of the Galaxy S25 series. The full version will also feature more AI-driven capabilities in on-device functions.

In other news, Mobile&Apps reported that there's a new leak about the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro. Yesterday, we wrote that the leaker tipped the new display technology for the upcoming flagship. The so-called Low-Dielectric TEE will improve the battery efficiency, display durability, and overall performance of the models.

If this happens by next year, Samsung might have an immediate answer for that. Still, only time will tell about this assumption.
