The Android 15 update for Pixel devices has already been launched for nearly a week, but it also brings some new features and improvements. However, if you own a Pixel 6, then perhaps hold off before installing the update because increasingly, reports are signing that Pixel 6 devices are bricking out of nowhere after getting the Android 15 update, making them unusable.

Apparently, the Google Pixel 6 series hasn't had the best of times with Android updates. Last year, some users reported losing access to their device storage after the Android 14 update, while this year in the early stages, many Pixel 6 handsets found themselves to be totally unresponsive after a factory reset. And with the Android 15 update, things seem to have got worse as some users have even gone ahead to say that their devices are totally bricked.

Android 15 Update Tied to Pixel 6 Bricking After Private Space Use

Reports by users on the Reddit forums indicate that a new change was made to Android 15 bricks Pixel 6 handsets unexpectedly.

Two users are reported to have reported that their phones suddenly got bricked after they were enabled with Private Space. GegoByte reported that his device instantly got bricked when he opened an app in Private Space. Another user by the name Homer_95 wrote that his phone locked down during normal use, but it has ample battery power.

Workarounds You Can Try But There's No Assurance of Working

The two users said that their Pixel devices have been bricked, rendering them "completely dead" for now. Both of them attempted standard troubleshooting methods, such as holding Power and Volume Down at once or connecting the device to a computer, with no success.

At first, it was hypothesized that user profiles may be the cause of the trouble — as seen in some issues with the Android 14 update — because Private Space functions like a new user profile. Two other users, though, reported their Pixel 6 devices bricking just at random after the update installation, hence leaving the causation of the problem unclear since the first reports.

Avoid Installing Android 15 if You Own a Pixel 6

According to Android Police, some users have no problem with our unit, and yet the growing instances of bricked devices appear to be alarming among all Pixel 6 owners.

Incidents like these are not isolated cases because Google devices, as a whole, seem to be having issues with the Android 15 update. Just a few days ago, Pixel 8 Pro also saw reports of back gesture feature failures after being updated.

Unless Google issues a statement or update against these problems, you might be better off holding off until the update of your Pixel 6 to Android 15.

The risk of bricking the device is major, and with the number of increasing reports, you can just tell it's a possibly glitchy update that needs to be sorted out before it is up for Pixel users.

In other news, some iPhone 16 Pro users couldn't get over the fact that random restarts are plaguing their brand-new devices. Our latest report says that this is not an isolated case, and if you're experiencing this right now, you're not alone.

With the random reboots, the general user experience is affected. Opening apps or text messages can be problematic. Notifications may go unnoticed.
