Those who love the Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket will be able to jump into new expansions as the latest information suggests that there is much more excitement in the line coming this year. If you're a Pokemon GO player, you would definitely feel the difference since it's all about cards.

A data mine, which is a new extraction of information from the popular mobile game, has just been released by a trusted source and hints that new sets will arrive as early as December and January, which can make each player want fresh cards all over again.

Pokémon TCG Pocket: The Expansions We've Been Waiting For

IGN discovered a leak from X user @CentroLeaks, who purportedly shows an event in the game's backend hinting at the arrival of a second full expansion set. They refer to "A2," implying that the successor of the current set is Genetic Apex, which the game only has at the moment and is labeled A1. This new event may indicate that A2 could be the long-awaited second set.

Sneak Peek at New Drops

This event will take place from Oct. 29- which means it's already starting as of writing. That is also the game's global release date—until January 29, 2025, therefore marking the conclusion of the game being dominated by Genetic Apex.

The title of the event already presented above goes by the words "Period A1 to A2 (After Global Release)," which gives a very definitive message of one major set of this game coming to an end and it's time for the other set to take over.

However, with some possibilities of a supplementary set or an expansion drop in December, things get interesting. An event known as "Period A1 to A1a" is already active and scheduled to end by Dec. 16. It has the potential to be a smaller card drop in conjunction with the Genetic Apex set. This would mean that maybe players were expecting some more content; special packs and maybe exclusive cards before A2 actually hits.

What Does It Mean for TCG Players?

As much as this leak is not endorsed by developer Creatures Inc., it tends to follow general patterns for Pokémon TCG sets. Conventionally, there is a new set that comes out each quarter.

Indeed, this would fall right into place, aligning with the established pattern. The players should be prepared to get some new fresh content that will keep the game relevant and open a window of opportunities for collecting the rarest and most powerful cards.

What's in the Existing Genetic Apex Set?

Currently, the Genetic Apex set comprises a substantial amount of 226 numbered cards and 60 alternate art cards. Due to these rare alternate art cards, this is already one of the longest and most exciting sets in the game. However, with its large stature, it will take a year or two before the collections of players will be full.

Considering the size of the set, it is unlikely that Creatures Inc. will expand this further from the current Genetic Apex set. On the other hand, a special event might open new avenues in getting more cards or special packs.

Generally, larger packs are only accessed by purchasing cards with real money, a practice that has been adopted all too well by mobile games.

Current Events and Community Murmurs

That being said, the game also has plenty on offer for fans while they wait for official news. In-game events continue to happen, with a solo battle event where players can challenge their foes with water-themed decks; winning a promo card like Lapras ex is up for the pot. Another current PvP event is ongoing, and here's how players can earn badges for showing off their skills.

Additionally, players are also extremely excited about the release of mythical god packs, wherein five alternate art cards are included in one pack.

There is even a secret card of Mew hidden in the game, providing yet another rare treasure for avid collectors. Another conspiracy theory added an interesting spin on community buzz surrounding crumpled corners.
