It has been a long time since open world space adventure game "No Man's Sky" is announced.

As the final release date finally approaches, developer Hello Games speaks out about the delays and the hurdles encountered during the development journey.

"No Man Sky" co-director Sean Murray addressed the fans recently in an open letter on the Hello Games website. The developer said that the studio is working "super, super hard" on the game, and confirms that it's getting better and better.

Despite all the late nights (and early mornings) we're all working to get it finished and in your hands," Murray wrote. "It's amazing to see it all coming together."

Speaking about the release date delay from June to August, Murray said that the studio knows that people are disappointed, and some fans made sure that they know how disappointed they are.

There are some, however, that expressed their utmost support for the team, which gives them strength to make that "final push."

Murray said that "No Man's Sky" is the hardest thing he has ever worked on.

It's even bigger than you can imagine," the director wrote. "This is a type of game that hasn't been attempted before, by a smaller team than anyone would expect, under an intense amount of expectation."

Despite the difficulty of the mission, Hello Games pressed on, and Murray is please to announce that the development is going well. Murray has acknowledged the effort of the whole "No Man's Sky" team, which he described as "the hardest working, most talented team" he has ever worked with.

Delaying the game release is the right decision for "No Man's Sky", Murray confirmed. He said that the team has only one shot to make the game and does not want to miss the opportunity to make it great.

"Thank you so much for your support and patience," Murray said at the end of the blog post. "The universe will be yours very soon."

On his Twitter account, Murray pointed out that they could have presented the game at the recently concluded Electronic Entertainment Expo to drive hype for the game, but they chose to stay in the studio instead to improve it.

"No Man's Sky" will be coming to North America on August 9.
