It was reported that Nintendo NX console's release date will be delayed for improved performance with VR functionality.

The company initially announced two months ago that the console will be launched in March 2017. The reason claimed for the delay was because that some tweaks and improvements will be done before displaying it to the market.

Gamers have expected the gadget to be introduced on the upcoming E3 2016 in June and will be launched this fall. However, a source from a supplier told DigiTimes that the company has moved the production to early 2017.

A source from an electronics manufacturing company in China known as Hon Hai Precision Industry explained that Nintendo wanted to "enhance the game console's video-game/handheld-game-integrated gaming experience and add virtual reality function into the system," reported by ScreenRant.

It was already revealed that the new Nintendo NX console will be a handheld device that will feature a 5 to 7-inch screen display, joystick and controller. Also, the gadget can be connected to a TV and will be equipped with a VR functionality to compete with the popular trend in the gaming industry, according to DigiTimes.

On the other hand, if the rumor about the console's VR support will be proven true, it will mark a change to the company's tradition of not following major technological trends unlike their competitors.

It was reported that the number of volume for the console has already decreased from the company's initial order of 20 million units for the first year. As of the moment, they lowered it down to 9.5-10 million units for shipment.

The reason claimed that the order reduction was because to the declining video game console demand in the market along with the low sales shipment for Wii U of two million units last year, according to BGR.

Although Nintendo NX release date will be delayed, the company will hold a live stream event during the E3 2016 event to introduce the new "Legend of Zelda."
