Nexus 4 users who upgraded their handsets to the latest Android 4.4 KitKat are reporting various glitches and issues after the update.

It seems that issues after an update are becoming increasingly common. Just recently the tech world buzzed as reports of Samsung Galaxy S4 and Galaxy S3 issues started to pile up after the handsets were updated to Android 4.3 Jelly Bean. Nexus 4 users are now joining the chorus, reporting their own problems after upgrading to Android 4.4 KitKat.

After having to wait quite a while to get the latest software, Nexus 4 users are reporting various issues after the update. Such problems include a broken dialer, non-working home button, issues with the lockscreen, quick settings issues, and more.

"When I click and hold the home button, Google Now does not appear. I am using Apex Launcher, and I also set a quick tap of the home button to shift it to the home screen. And it does not do that too. It seems that the home button is not working. It does glow and vibrate on tap when you click it though," one user explains on the XDA Developers forum.

"Another problem I have is that notification icons on the left side of the notification bar does not appear now," adds the user. "A new email icon should appear there whenever you get a new email, and also the current temperature. Now it does not. The WiFi and cellphone signal icons do appear on the right though. And when I pull down the notification bar, it is empty. That 'settings' button on the notification bar pulling down on the top right does not work either."

Not all Nexus 4 users have experienced issues after updating to Android 4.4 KitKat. It seems that such issues affect Nexus 4 users who updated their handsets from Android 4.3 build JWR66Y to Android 4.4 build KRT16S via OTA. Those who updated their device by using the factory image Google posted seem to be unaffected by such issues, unless they installed the factory image without wiping data.
