Samsung fans in Canada are in for some good news, as the giant Galaxy mega 6.3 will be making its way to Rogers and Telus soon.
The current trend seems to favor smartphones with increasingly larger displays and Samsung has never been too shy in pushing the limits. The company created the whole 'phablet' trend with its original Galaxy Note and now it's pushing it even further with its new Galaxy Mega devices.
While not all smartphone users like a massive display on their handset, some of those who do may have their eyes set on the huge Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3. There's no confirmed release date for this device in Canada, but it will likely become available very soon. Canadian carrier Rogers already confirmed it will start offering the phablet soon.
"The Galaxy Mega from @samsungmobileca with 6'3-inch display and super-fast LTE speeds will be coming soon to Rogers!" the carrier boasted in a tweet. Android Authority also reports receiving confirmation that Telus will start offering the Galaxy Mega 6.3 soon as well.
For those unfamiliar with the device, the Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 boasts a massive 6.3-inch 720p s-LCD display, LTE radios, a dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor clocked at 1.7GHz and 1.5GB of RAM. The device also features an 8-megapixel rear-camera, a 3,200 mAh Li-Ion battery and a microSD card slot for additional memory of up to 64GB. The Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 for Rogers will ship with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean out of the box.
In other words, the massive phablet is not top-of-the-line, but it has good specs and blazing-fast LTE, which should make it attractive for fans of huge smartphones. Neither Rogers nor Telus offered an exact date for when the device will become available, but it shouldn't be long now. There's also no word on pricing yet.
The most anticipated Samsung phablet, however, is the upcoming Galaxy Note 3, which is expected to debut on Sept. 4 at the company's Unpacked 2013 event in Berlin. Samsung likes to give its fans several options to choose from and in this case, phablet shoppers will have a choice between a high-end Galaxy Note 3 phablet or the massive Galaxy Mega. In terms of pricing, the Mega should be considerably more affordable.
