The massive Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 Android phablet is ready to launch on MetroPCS, joining the prepaid operator's lineup on Nov. 25.

Samsung created the whole phablet category with its original Galaxy Note, the first device to blur the lines between a smartphone and a small tablet. While at the time observers were skeptical as to whether consumers would actually buy such a large smartphone, it has now become obvious that phablets are a hit. Samsung continued to offer increasingly larger Galaxy Note phablets and each one proved more successful than its predecessor.

Other device manufacturers have since joined the party and started making their own phablet offerings, but Samsung is still considered the king. The company went literally huge with its Galaxy Mega 6.3, packing an enormous 6.3-inch display.

"Customers deciding between a smartphone and a tablet now have the best of both worlds with the introduction of the Samsung Galaxy Mega from MetroPCS, a brand of T-Mobile US," the prepaid operator announced on Thursday, Nov. 21. "The Galaxy Mega brings the convenience of a smartphone together with the display power of a tablet for as low as $349 plus tax, after instant rebates, making it easily affordable to have a phone and computer in one without paying the price for both. The smartphone will be available on November 25 in MetroPCS stores and online, including in 15 new MetroPCS markets that are launching today, giving even more consumers access to nationwide 4G LTE at a tremendous value."

"MetroPCS wants consumers to get the most for their money, and by eliminating the need and cost of two separate devices and delivering a premium 4G LTE mobile experience for as low as $40 a month, we're providing quality and value in a mefa way," MetroPCS executive vice president and COO Tom Keys further touted. "The Galaxy Mega offers a large screen experience on-the-go with the portability of a tablet and we're delivering it on an advanced nationwide 4G LTE network."

The Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 on MetroPCS will ride on T-Mobile's nationwide 4G LTE network. Customers will be able to pair the device with any of MetroPCS's unlimited data, talk and text service plans, starting at $40.

As a reminder, the Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 packs a dual-core Snapdragon processor clocked at 1.7GHz, 1.5GB of RAM, 8GB or 16GB of storage with a microSD card slot for additional memory, an 8-megapixel rear camera and a 1.9-megapiel front-facing shooter. It has a 3,200 mAh battery and runs on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean.

MetroPCS is offering the Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 for $349 plus tax, after a $100 holiday discount and a $50 rebate. The latter only applies to new customers who purchase the Galaxy Mega in a MetroPCS store.
