With the new Google System updates, your Android operating system is made more secure thanks to the new features. For this month, here's what you need to know.

The "Google System" encompasses several first-party apps that are integral to the functionality of Android and related devices. Google's support blog includes the following:

  • Adaptive Connectivity Services: Found in the "All apps" list in Settings, where you can check the App info for the version number.
  • Android System Intelligence: Accessible through App info.
  • Android TV Core Services: Manages core functions for Android TV devices.
  • Android WebView: Vital for rendering web content in apps.
  • Device Health Services: Keeps track of your device's health metrics.
  • Settings Services: Manages system settings.
  • Google Play Store: The main hub for downloading and updating apps.
  • Google Play System Update: Available in Settings under About phone > Android version.
  • SIM Manager: Handles your device's SIM-related functions.

Developer Services and Device Connectivity Updates

In the latest Google Play services update (v24.34, released on Sept. 2), several improvements were made:

  • Developer Services: This update includes bug fixes that improve the performance and stability of services related to developers.

  • Contactless Payments in Japan: With the latest update, users in Japan can now use JCB Contactless payment methods directly from their phones. This addition provides more flexibility and convenience for mobile payments in the region.

Google Play Store Improvements

The Google Play Store (v42.6, updated on Sept.2 ) has received several noteworthy improvements:

  • Enhanced Google Play Protect: Now, users across PC, Phone, and TV platforms receive even stronger protection from harmful apps, ensuring a safer experience when downloading and using applications.
  • Play Points Status: On mobile devices, users can now easily view their Play Points status directly at the top of the App Details page, making it easier to track rewards and benefits.
  • Android Auto: When signing into the Play Store for Android Auto, users are greeted with a new banner image featuring app icons and a clear explanation of the Play Store's benefits, enhancing the onboarding experience.

Rolling Out New Features Gradually
