Samsung confirmed in late July that it will use the Exynos 2500 chip for the first time. Before that, we have seen Exynos W1000.
With this, many guessed at the time that the said chip would be making its way to some Galaxy S25 series phones. However, this won't be the case as the new report says that the upcoming handsets will exclusively utilize Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 SoC.
Hankyung, a local publication based in South Korea, reported Samsung's Galaxy S25 series will be powered exclusively by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 processor. This is a notable departure from Samsung's dual-chip strategy employed in the Galaxy S24 series, where both Snapdragon and Exynos processors were used depending on the region.
For instance, the Galaxy S24 and S24+ models were equipped with Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 in the U.S. and Exynos 2400 in other markets, including India. However, the premium Galaxy S24 Ultra featured the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy SoC across all markets.
The decision to move exclusively to Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 for the Galaxy S25 series suggests that Samsung is aiming to deliver consistent performance and user experience across all regions.
The new chipset is expected to bring substantial improvements in generative AI functions, boasting a 30% performance increase over its predecessor. This focus on high-performance components aligns with Samsung's strategy to enhance its flagship devices' competitive edge.

While the Galaxy S25 series may not feature an Exynos chipset, Samsung reportedly plans to incorporate the Exynos 2500 in its upcoming foldable devices, specifically the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Galaxy Z Fold 7, slated for release in the second half of 2025.
At first, it was believed that the Exynos 2500 would power certain models of the Galaxy S25 and S25+ in select regions. However, the latest reports suggest that Samsung has shifted its focus, reserving the Exynos 2500 for its next-generation foldable phones.
This could mean Samsung's intention to differentiate its product lines by using distinct chipsets for different device categories. By reserving the Exynos 2500 for its foldable phones, the tech giant might be positioning these devices as cutting-edge technology platforms, while the Galaxy S25 series will benefit from the proven performance and reliability of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4.
The collaboration between Samsung and Qualcomm appears to be deepening, with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 SoC for Galaxy expected to feature overclocked GPU and CPU cores specifically optimized for the Galaxy S25 Ultra, as per Tech Times.
This customization suggests that Samsung is working closely with Qualcomm to ensure that its flagship phones can compete with top-tier rivals, such as Apple's iPhone 16, which is expected to feature the powerful A18 chip.
Samsung's decision to rely exclusively on Qualcomm's Snapdragon processors for its flagship series could be seen as a strategic effort to unify its product offerings and streamline performance across global markets.
It is expected that the Galaxy S25 series will set new benchmarks in performance, AI capabilities, and user experience since it will come with a more advanced chipset.
The Galaxy S25 series is shaping up to be a pivotal release for Samsung, marking a clear transition in the company's approach to chipset selection and overall device strategy.
Exclusively adopting the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 SoC will position Samsung's flagship phones to deliver impressive performance and consistency. This will only pave the way for the company to be competitive against other smartphone makers.
