Google has continually been pushing to get their artificial intelligence (AI) technology to its consumers. This has become apparent in their inclusion of the Google Assistant on Android smartphones and the improvement of Google Now. The company also extended their reach by providing a product that is similar to Amazon's Echo home speaker in the form of the new Google Home.
Despite its ability to provide a myriad of information and functionalities, the speaker itself was still considered to be a one-person device. The speaker is only able to respond to a single user at any given time, but that probably won't be the case for long as Google prepares to roll out a big update for the device.
According to a report from Android Police, Google may soon roll out a multiple accounts feature on the device that would allow the AI to respond to multiple users with their corresponding information. A placeholder for the specific function was reportedly spotted within the device's system after it had received its most recent update.
Under the "discover" tab within the Google Home app, a notification that mentions multiple user support has now been listed. However, the specific feature isn't really available yet, which means that someone at Google probably jumped the gun and included the notification by mistake.
Despite not being available just yet, the notification does reveal that it will be included in a future update very soon, as reported by GSM Arena. With multiple user support, Google Home will soon be able to distinguish different users via an integrated advanced voice-recognition feature. The speaker will essentially be able to provide different answers to different people depending on who is asking the question.
The current voice recognition software on the device isn't really there yet, which means that Google probably has to develop it further on their end to make sure that it works seamlessly when it is rolled out. Google Home is still pretty much a new device and Google probably has a lot of plans for it in terms of adding new features and functionalities via future updates.
