Fans of Nexus 7 2017 starts wondering if there will still a possibility that its absence will not be repeated in the following months. Because of this, suggestions arise that Google should give up working on older versions of the tablet but instead focus their time on the 2017 model or the presumed "project Taimen".

Google has started releasing Android 7.1.2 Nougat to Pixel, Pixel XL, Nexus 5 X, Nexus 6P, Nexus Player, and Pixel C tablet in the previous week. Together with this release are recent apps screen and bug fixes. Unfortunately, Ars Technica reported that this update is not available anymore to download for Nexus 6, Nexus 7 and Nexus 9.

It was reiterated by the netizens that Google shop stop paying more attention to older versions of Nexus 7 and start dedicating more time to the development of its 2017 version. There is no official statement from the company regarding this, so fans has nothing else to do but to be silent and wait.

On the other hand, some news regarding the Google Pixel 2 (Walleye) and Pixel 2 XL have lately been circulating the internet. Included in the said news are the details about a third device called as "Taimen". Fans are expecting that it refer to the Nexus 7 that they have been awaiting for quite some time. Anticipation for this device has started since 2016. Geek Reply added that this device is expected to contain high-performance specs that would bring an overall excellent performance to the device.

Google's determination to provide innovation and revolution to their new hardware is said to be used in their upcoming Nexus 7 the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 835, the most powerful chipset currently available in the market. This includes a 6GB or 8GB RAM.

According to a report, the current Nexus 7 (2017) is using an Andromeda OS but the company has already uncovered the unclear fate of the said operating system, instead, the device is presumed to have an Android 8 or "Oreo". It is expected that this latest Google device, together with the new Pixel smartphone, will be released this year.
