With Samsung having already unveiled their latest flagship smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy S8, fans are now looking forward to other companies finally presenting their latest offerings. If the latest reports are indeed accurate, then the supposed "Apple of China," Xiaomi, may be the next one to unveil their top-of-the-line device.
According to a report from Playful Droid, Xiaomi's very own CEO, Lei Jun, may have just confirmed that the highly awaited new Xiaomi Mi 6 flagship may be unveiled this month. The CEO recently appeared in a live stream session in China yesterday and talked about his company's upcoming plans. During the show, Lei Jun confirmed that the Xiaomi Mi 6 was indeed going to be making its debut this month.
Unfortunately, the CEO didn't really go into specifics on when exactly the device will be presented to the public, but a majority of the reports from China do agree that the unveiling event may be held on either April 11 or April 18. Previous leaks and rumors regarding the Xiaomi Mi 6 have also been pointing to this being a possibility as well.
As per a report from GSM Arena, the Xiaomi Mi 6 has just recently been certified by the Chinese Compulsory Certification (CCC) authority, which means that its launch may be coming sooner rather than later. It also has to be noted that just prior to the Livestream event, a leak on Weibo had actually showcased several renders of the device that somewhat confirmed its alleged features.
The Xiaomi Mi 6 was revealed to sport a dual camera system similar to other flagships. Just like Apple, the upcoming flagship is also alleged to be ditching the 3.5mm audio jack to help in its minimalistic and streamlined design. Xiaomi is reportedly going to be releasing two different screen-size variants, namely a 5.15-inch standard Xiaomi Mi 6 and a 5.7-inch Xiaomi Mi 6 Plus model.
