Nintendo's NES Classic edition and the current generation Switch console were offered for sale for a limited duration and no prizes for guessing, they sold out like hot cakes.

In what looks like a sale strategy adopted by retailers such as Best Buy, the NES Classic edition has been offered as part of a promotional sale where various sellers unload their stock in restricted quantities. It's worth noting that even in 2017; the popularity of the nostalgic portable gaming device has not faded away.

Last month, Best Buy took to its Twitter handle (@BestBuy) to announce that limited quantities of the two consoles from Nintendo will be up for grabs on March 29 at 13:00 ET. The Big N would be putting up the newfangled gaming console, Switch and the NES Classic edition for sale via an exclusive sale page.

The said page currently showcases just the Switch system with gray Joy-Cons, as GameSpot reports. That being said, the company sold all units in just a few minutes but, Nintendo is no stranger to receiving such an overwhelming response from the huge fanbase of its popular console.

Nintendo's Switch and the Classic Edition propelled to popularity as soon as they launched in early March and last November respectively. Earlier this year, Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime pointed out that the Classic Edition's issues were a case of miscalculating demand. In the aftermath, Nintendo president Tatsumi Kimishima expressed his remorse and even apologized for the supply problem.

As far as Switch is concerned, the popular console maker was reportedly gearing up to ship a whopping 2 million units across the globe by the end of last month. Meanwhile, multiple sources suggest its production has been doubled for the months ahead.
