iPhone 8, iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus will release in September with True Tone Displays. In addition front and back 3D sensors for facial recognition and AR will also be included when the phones roll out.

According to a report from Mac Rumors, the highly anticipated fresh iPhone models will feature True Tone Displays as stated by the investment bank, Barclays. These devices with OLED displays will individually feature an ambient light sensor with full spectral sensing to produce a True Color screen. These light sensors will be supplied by the Austrian semiconductor manufacturer AMS.

The much talked about True Tone Display is the latest feature of several Apple products. In a report by The Verge, it explained what this feature is all about. The True Tone displays have the ability to tweak the appearance of the screen depending on the lighting condition of the user's environment. For instance, when in a dimly lit room or out basking in the summer sun, the display will look different adjusting automatically to the amount of light in the environment.

This feature is identical to the Night Shift, however, it is limited only on nighttime and only controls the amount of blue light taken in during evening time and not on a 24-hour basis. The True Tone display will reduce eye strain for those who are exposed to longer time using the device.

Aside from True Tone Display, the iPhone 8 is also expected to use 3D sensing technology. This will be used for features like Augmented Reality applications (AR) and facial recognition. 9to5mac reported that the note from Barclays confirmed this and in fact included two more custom 3D sensors. These sensors are configured with the light camera on the front and back of the device. The report further added that AMS or Heptagon will provide essential content to transmit it and STMicro will take charge of the receiving part.
