PlayStation 4 Pro Media Player app update is available starting March 28. This most recent functionality will provide support for PS4 Pro 4K video as well as VR videos in 4K.

Sony confirmed yesterday that the PlayStation 4 Pro Media Player would receive an update to enable the console to back 4K video playback on PS4 Pro. The update will also enable 4K videos in mp4 format saved on a USB stick or home server to be played on the Media Player app. For this to work, obviously, users must have a compatible 4K TV to be able to view the videos in 4K resolution.

Aside from those, the recent PlayStation 4 Pro Media Player app update will also simply and speeds up finding media in the Player by enabling the home server to appear as a media option. The company also reminded users that USB device that has been formatted as extended storage for PS4 could only be utilized for saving games and apps. The USB cannot be used to store and play videos.

PlayStation 4 Pro Media Player app update will update will support playback of 4K VR video content for those who owns a PlayStation VR system. With the PS VR's 1920 x RGB x 1080 display resolution, 4K VR videos will be presented in a higher image quality better than HD VR videos. Users will now be able to capture striking 360-degree 4K video immersed in a different world at the comfort of their homes.

To top it all, with the latest PlayStation 4 Pro Media Player app update, 4K streaming will also be supported on PS4 Pro. Streaming video apps like YouTube and Netflix with 4K content is now available.
