The rumor mill has been churning all sorts of speculations around a new iPad Pro that is expected to hit the store shelves sooner rather than later. Here's a rundown on what to expect based on shreds of information from an IHS Markit analyst and other reports.

10.5-Inch iPad Pro

A new iPad Pro sporting a 10.5-inch display could be in the offing, according to IHS Markit, Director Tablets and PCs, Rhoda Alexander, who shared this detail with Forbes' contributor Broke Crothers in a phone interview last month. Alexander further divulged that the aforesaid 10.5-inch iPad could feature the same size as its 9.7-inch variant, thanks to a smaller bezel.

A unit that sports an identical physical size as the 9.7-inch version would enable the use of accessories such as the Smart Keyboard with the 10.5-inch iPad Pro. Also, the display resolution will increase from the current 2,048-by-1,536 to 2,224-by-1,668, maintaining the same PPI (pixels per inch), Alexander added.

The ratio of width to the height of the display i.e. aspect ratio could change as well, Raymond Soneira, a display expert and president of DisplayMate Technologies revealed. This would let Apple retain the same outside dimensions, regardless of the smaller bezel. KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo was the first to report about a new iPad Pro (via MacRumors).

Low-Priced iPad

A new "value" 9.7-inch iPad could be in the cards, and if there is, the device could sell for just $299. This is considerably lower than pricing on the existing iPad Air 2 that starts at $399, according to Alexander. There's no word regarding the pricing on the 10.5-inch variant of the new iPad Pro.

The existing 9.7-inch iPad Pro bears a starting price of $599, and Apple could consider lowering the price on that version to $499 and probably then, put the 10.5-inch iPad model into the $599 slot, as one probability.

Details about the fate of 7.9-inch iPad Mini are scarce; however, multiple sources suggest an update is just around the corner. Moreover, there's also hearsay that Apple could introduce an updated 12.9-inch iPad Pro.

iPad Pro 2 Release Date

Apple could be gearing up to launch a bunch of new products between March 20 and 24, according to MacRumors. Other reports; however, point to an April launch. If this proves to be true, Apple might decide to send out invitations to an event later on.

Alternatively, the Cupertino-based tech titan could announce the new products via a press release, but that's quite unlikely considering that a redesign could be on its way.
